The White Marsh Historical Society, is a non-profit organization established in 2023 by the Descendants of enslaved and free Black people that lived, labored, and died at the Jesuit-owned White Marsh plantation. Our mission is to research, preserve, interpret, and memorialize the Black Americans whose forced labor contributed to the foundation and expansion of the Roman Catholic Church and its auxiliary institutions in America. We strive for a continued engagement with the Archdiocese of Washington (ADW) and the Jesuit USA East Conference, to ensure that the legacy of our ancestors is handled with honor and dignity. We are eager to expand our efforts with your support!

Your generous donations will support our continuous work toward:

  • Recruiting descendant members and supporting Jesuit-enslaved families genealogical research.
  • Planning future programs and educational outreach with input from the descendant community.
  • Expanding our capacity to accomplish our mission by staffing our organization.

Please consider making a donation to the White Marsh Historical Society to help us move our mission and programs forward. The “Donate” button will link you to our general donation page.

If you have questions or opportunities for our group, please email us at info@whitemarsh.org.

The White Marsh Historical Society is a 501(C)3 Non-Profit Organization and all donations are tax-deductible.
