About

The White Marsh Historical Society is an independent 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the research, preservation, and memorialization of the African Americans buried in the Sacred Heart Catholic cemetery. Thanks to generous donations from private families and supporting organizations, we can begin our work dedicated to honoring the legacies of the men, women, and children that lived, labored and died at the former Jesuit-owned White Marsh plantation in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

This initiative is entirely volunteer-based, which means it’s dependent on caring people who believe in the goals of the project who are willing to give up their own time, and other supporters who are willing to donate resources to keep us going.

If you’re interested in supporting us, please look into our membership program or consider donating. We try and make it as easy as possible for anyone to get involved so don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
